    Summary:

    The Department of Surgical Urology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or masters prepared Physician Assistant for our Men’s Health Program within Penn Medicine University City (PMUC) at Penn Presbyterian Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work closely with the director of the Men’s Health Center/Urology provider and work as an independent and collaborative provider. The APP will help build the Men's Health Program and evaluate men with a variety of urologic complaints while working in a multi-disciplinary manner to ensure we are delivering comprehensive care.

     

    Working as a practitioner of the health care team, the APP will take medical histories, examine patients, order, and interpret laboratory tests/radiology studies, develop diagnoses and treatment plans as well as perform men’s health office procedures. The practice will center on a high-volume intake and diagnostic clinic with targeted time for a procedure-based practice. The APP will cross cover in different areas as needed. The APP will see patients with collaborating providers as well as independently. The types of patients the APP will see will vary and will include but will not be limited to low T, ED, peyronie’s disease, ejaculatory dysfunction, penile rehab program (post prostate/ bladder cancer surgery), any scrotal complaints (hydroceles/epididymal cysts), testicular pain, post priapism

     

    This is a full-time position initially based out of PMUC. The schedule for this position will be comprised of:

     

    + Clinic with attending

    + Independent clinic

    + Testopel/Procedure Clinic (independent)

    + Dedicated time for administrative and research activities

    Responsibilities:

    + Provides direct clinical care for patient population according to established protocols and utilizes evidence based practice standards in collaboration with team.

    + Maintains accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR).

    + Identifies self properly to the patient and family, and clarifies the role of the nurse practitioner or physician assistant if necessary.

    + The APP should function within their scope and refer to the collaborating/supervising physician when outside of scope, and/or directed by the physician or when requested by the patient and/or family. Performs interventions specific to assigned patient population and collaborative/written agreement.

    + Participates in the performance improvement processes to meet quality of care and service standards.

    + Demonstrates awareness of professional responsibility as role model to peers and members of the health care team.

    + Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status.

    + Addresses patient and family concerns and creates a therapeutic relationship to provide support.

    + Provide patient education, counseling and instruction regarding patient diagnosis, medical treatments, medications, and preventative care.

    + Participate in and support accreditation, compliance and regulatory activities of the organization.

    + Precept students and other health care learners.

    Credentials:

    + BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (For providers in the ambulatory setting) required.

    + PA and/or NJ CRNP licensure (CRNP) required.

    + PA and/or NJ Prescriptive Authority required.

    + PA and/or NJ RN licensure (RN) required.National Board Certification.

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    + Master of Arts or Science (Required)

    + Education Specialization:Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in NursingEquivalent Experience:•And New to practice or < 2.5 years, The CRNP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.
