    About the Role

     

    As a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, the Comptroller’s Department is a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority’s finances. As part of the Comptroller’s Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency’s financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority. Reporting to the Deputy Comptroller, the responsibilities of the Manager, Revenue Accounting, will include but are not limited to:

    Responsibilities

    + Providing oversight and direction to the staff in Revenue Accounting responsible for monitoring, controlling and recording all Port Authority revenue.Verify that all lease revenues are accurately billed in accordance with contract terms and that all toll, fare, parking and other cash revenues are received and recorded on a timely and accurate basis with proper supporting documentation.

    + Ensure that monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date revenue variance analyses are provided timely and accurately to management.Actively participate in monthly Comptroller’s and Budget round table meetings to present revenue variance information and complete all meeting follow-up tasks.

    + Work closely with direct reports to enhance analyses and provide improved reporting and statistical process measuresfor specific revenue streams and overall revenue accounting processes.

    + Analyze, reconcile and prepare year-end revenues, leasing activities under GASB 87 and subscription-basedinformation technology arrangements under GASB 96 for inclusion in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report Notes to Financial Statements including language in the Management’s Discussion and Analysis section. Provide back-up documentation in a timely manner for all requests from the external auditors.

    + Liaison to internal and external auditors keeping close track of requests, communicating issues to management and responding to all ad-hoc requests, and internal and external audit requirements.Review audit findings on revenues and prepare responses and recommendations.

    + Manage staffing resources effectively by streamlining work processes and procedures to meet deadlines.Manage and support employee engagement and career development through training, communication and by creating an inclusive work environment to attain division goals.

    + Establish and maintain effective communication and business relationships with staff at all levels in the businessline departments, auditors, tenants, and outside agencies.Keep management informed of the division’s activities and other important issues.

    + Ensure compliance with established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.Develop, implement, and adhere to internal financial controlsto ensure all revenues are accurately recorded with no internal or external audit findings.

    + Identify and implement productivity and process improvements that improve efficiency and customer service or reduce costs. Participate in development projects as required, with the intent of utilizing technology to streamline processes and effectively manage staff.

    + Represent the Comptroller’s Department and provide oversight intorevenue related systemproject initiatives. Participate in design review and implementation meetings with various operating departments throughout the project life cycle including systems parallel testing and user acceptance testing of all financial data and reports. Work with SAP consultants to develop solutions, facilitate changes and assist in necessary upgrades to SAP financial modules.

    + Complete special assignments and projects as requested.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in an accounting or corporate finance capacity.

    + Thorough knowledge of Port Authority accounting and financial structure.

    + Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently and prioritize work.

    + Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex information clearly and accurately.

    + Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving ability.

    + Demonstrated effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

    + Ability to interact effectively with internal and external staff at all levels.

    + Knowledge of SAP, including Real Estate module, and MS Word/Excel applications.

     

    Selection Process
