    Description:

    Nurse Director of Interventional Radiology (IR), Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab), Electrophysiology (EP), and Cardiovascular and Vascular Access Unit (CVAU)

     

    **Job Summary** : The Nurse Director of IR, Cath Lab, EP, and CVAU will provide strategic leadership and operational management for the Interventional Radiology, Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology, and Vascular Access Unit. This role is responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, staff development, and departmental efficiency while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Leadership and Management:

    Lead and manage the nursing teams in IR, Cath Lab, EP, and CVAU, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.

     

    Conduct regular performance evaluations, promote staff development, and implement mentorship programs.

     

    Facilitate staff recruitment, retention, and succession planning.

    Clinical Oversight:

    Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care across all departments.

     

    Monitor clinical outcomes and implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety.

     

    Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient management and care pathways.

    Operational Management:

    Oversee departmental budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation to ensure optimal operational efficiency.

     

    Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements specific to each department.

     

    Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance workflow and patient care processes.

    Quality Improvement:

    Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and satisfaction across all service lines.

     

    Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and implement corrective actions as necessary.

     

    Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in clinical care.

    Education and Training:

    Coordinate ongoing education and training programs for nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams to enhance clinical competencies.

     

    Stay updated on advancements in interventional techniques, technologies, and best practices in care.

     

    Encourage and support professional development and certification among nursing staff.

    Communication and Collaboration:

    Act as a liaison between nursing staff, medical staff, administration, and patients.

     

    Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.

     

    Engage with patients and their families to provide information about care plans, procedures, and expected outcomes.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.Current RN license in the state of practice.Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in IR, Cath Lab, EP, or CVAU, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.Knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices related to interventional procedures and vascular access.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

    SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    + Strong written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal, motivational and conflict resolution skills. Strong management and administrative skills. Broad-based knowledge of hospital related regulatory compliance requirements. Experience in expense and capital budget development and control, typically in the million dollars plus range.

    CAREER PATH: Administration

    GENERAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

    + Management:

    + Works directly with the Administrative Vice President on global issues including short, mid and long range planning and coordination. Provides reports and data relating to the ongoing status of service.

    + Directs, manages and administers the internal operations as well as coordination with other services, while providing leadership and program/project development, monitoring, control, etc.

    + Typical direct reporting levels would include: Section Managers.

    + Financial:

    + Develops, prepares, secures approval, monitors, controls and reports variances to the service budget (capital and expense).

    + Signing authority for operational expenses is $5000.

    + Operational:

    + Develops, secures approval, monitors and controls all personnel issues for the service, including but not limited to: staff level, discipline issues, hire/fire recommendations, staff development, etc.

    + Develop, monitor, adjust and administer the organizational structure.

    + Provides consultation services to other services as required.

    + Effectively educates the patient/family in specialty area.

    + Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement

    + Researcher:

    + Participates in Performance Improvement and Monitoring.

    + Applies current concepts and findings from research and/or studies to practice.

    Pay Range: $58.25-$87.40

     

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
