Description
We are seeking a highly organized and patient-centered Surgery Scheduler to coordinate all aspects of surgical coordinating for ophthalmologists in busy multi-specialty clinics. This role requires travel to multiple clinic locations including Pasadena, Arcadia, and Fountain Valley to support providers. You will also provides essential front office support and general administrative tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Coordinate and schedule all aspects of patient surgeries, including pre-op testing, post-op visits, and OR scheduling
+ Provide administrative consultation on surgery process
+ Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre-authorizations
+ Counsel on financial aspect and collect payments
+ Ensure patients are appropriately registered and insurance information is accurate
+ Answer calls and perform check-in/out process
Salary Range: $30.36-43.49 Hourly
_This position is required to travel to Pasadena, Arcadia, and Fountain Valley as assignment by the manager._
Qualifications
Required:
+ At least 4 years of experience working in a medical office.
+ Knowledge and proficiency with insurance coding and Medical CCS billing/authorization guidelines.
+ Strong insurance verification and pre-registration background.
+ Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases, as it applies to the eye.
+ Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
+ Experience scheduling patient appointments in computerized appointment scheduling system.
+ Demonstrate good English spelling grammar and communication skills.
+ Demonstrate effective communication and interaction skills with patients, physicians and fellow staff members.
+ Demonstrate professional and effective work skills to handle all responsibilities within a fast-paced, high pressure setting.
+ Sufficient computer keyboard skills to perform appointment scheduling, encountering, emailing, and other related computer tasks.
+ The ability to interact calmly and effectively with patients with difficult personalities.
+ Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate rotating schedule (as early as 6:30 a.m. and as late as 7:30 p.m.).
Preferred:
+ Two years' experience working in a medical teaching institution.
+ Two years' experience in ophthalmology practice setting.
