Responsibilities

The candidate will utilize artificial intelligence, informatics, and programming skills in data management and analysis. Will include collaboration on data collection methods, writing, and archival, as well as the application of appropriate statistical methods for the analysis under the direction of the artificial intelligence and informatics consultants.

Additional tasks include, but are not limited to:

+ Work with the team to develop and evaluate reinforcement learning models for navigation and decision-making in visually complex environments.

+ Collaborate with research team members to refine model performance and integrate components into larger systems.

This position requires the employee to work onsite at the location which requires living within driving distance of main campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

Qualifications

Working towards a Master’s degree in data science, computer science, mathematics/statistics, informatics, computer engineering, or related field. Previous work experience or course work in artificial intelligence, machine learning or data science and use of software packages for data management and statistical analysis is preferred. Proven written and oral communication skill are essential. Ability to think logically and systematically analyze and evaluate alternate solutions in problem solving required.

Previous experience in programming languages such as R, Java, C++ or others preferred. Experience or familiarity with Linux/UNIX operating systems preferred. Proven competency to work independently preferred.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience with reinforcement learning on visual data or visual game environments

+ Strong programming skills in Python

+ Familiarity with custom RL environments or OpenAI Gym

+ Practical experience using PyTorch **Note: Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM. Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee.**
