As an SDE on the Q Business Platform team, you will be working on developing the next generation of the Q Business Platform, while also solving challenges around improving the accuracy of our AI-driven responses, optimizing context-aware systems for enterprise-scale knowledge retrieval, and advancing the platform’s ability to reason over complex, domain-specific datasets.

Key job responsibilities

- Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle for critical systems, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring.

- Design and architect scalable, distributed systems that prioritize reliability, performance, and security.

- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, scientists and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.

- Drive operational excellence by maintaining production systems, optimizing performance, and resolving incidents/customer issues.

- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance in code/design reviews, and foster a culture of rigorous engineering practices (testing, observability, security).

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing

- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

- Experience building context-aware systems that reason over structured/unstructured data (e.g., enterprise databases, document repositories).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
