    Duties Description Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement, the Assistant Director of Multicultural Education and Advocacy is responsible for developing innovative programming for a diverse student population. This full-time professional works collaboratively with faculty, staff and various departments and college constituencies to engage students outside of the classroom to enhance the college experience through student engagement, leadership development opportunities and programming to serve the campus community. This position is responsible for the new Multicultural Center, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Diversity & Inclusion programming, and various campus-committee service opportunities.Essential Duties:The Assistant Director coordinates and is responsible for specific aspects of programming and student engagement, including but not limited to: the Multicultural Center, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programming, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and general student leadership support.Oversee the new Multicultural Center, create policies and procedures, maintain staffing and have a strong presence in the space.Research, design, implement and assess a comprehensive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion program calendar to include but not limited to diversity initiatives that are inclusive of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, age, physical abilities, political beliefs or other ideologies.Develop collaborative programming with faculty and other campus partners to successfully implement programs educating about and celebrating Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American/Native Alaskan Heritage Month, Black History Month, AAPI History Month, Women's History Month, Culture Café programs, LGBTQ History Month and Transgender Day of Remembrance & Visibility programming, including awareness days and months.Design and implement an extensive engagement program to oversee the administration and activities of fraternities and sororities, ensuring academic success, sustainability and growth of the organizations and is responsible for developing Diversity & Inclusion programming in conjunction with faculty and various campus collaborators.Recommends and oversees fraternity and sorority expansion in conjunction with the national headquarters.Plan and assess all functional areas and provide for assessment and data analysis in alignment with the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education.Assist with opening event calendars for Fall/Spring Semesters.Collaborate with the Office of Residential Life in the development and implementation of weekend and campus-wide events/programming initiatives to enhance the college experience and student engagement.Assist in oversight of student events, including off-campus travel and Student Union coverage to engage students outside of the classroom and enhance overall collegiate experience.Serve as advisor to SGA-recognized identity- and religious-based student organizations.Counsel students regarding policies and procedures related to student organization-sponsored events and programs and assist with event oversight and office operations in the absence of the Director.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:A minimum of a Master's degree in Higher Education or related field.A minimum of three (3) years of progressive, professional, full-time experience in higher education.Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.Demonstrated commitment to and appreciation of working with diverse groups of individuals, including age, race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic and educational background and maintaining a work environment that is marked by inclusiveness and respect for others.Must demonstrate a high level of customer service and the ability to collaborate with students, faculty, staff and outside vendors in the planning and execution of small and large-scale events.Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekend hours. The position will work one evening shift per week.Preferred Qualifications:A minimum of three (3) years of progressive, professional, full-time experience in areas related to student affairs and higher education, to include student programming/services, student success and retention strategies.Demonstrated experience planning and overseeing large-scale events.
