Job Description:
Education:
+ Associate’s degree preferred in Drafting Technology or Mechanical Engineering, OR High School Diploma + Vocational Training in CAD required.
Experience:
+ Minimum 4 years’ relevant mechanical drafting experience
Skills / Ability:
+ Proficient in AutoCAD 2014 and above.
+ Proficient in flat pattern development
+ Proficient PC skills and able to learn new software applications
+ Strong attention to detail with the capability of self-checking work for accuracy
+ Strong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning, and problem-solving skills
+ Strong knowledge of current hood and parts catalog.
+ Strong knowledge of product construction.
+ Good oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to work in a team environment
+ Ability to manage time, flex with workflow demands, and prioritize work
+ Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints and specs
+ Ability to recognize and identify all the different types of sheet metal used within the plant.
+ Ability to utilize ERP Systems (Syspro).
+ Ability to perform departmental audits on design and programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of 2D and 3D engineering standards
+ 3D Mechanical/Design drafting experience
+ Experience working in a production environment
+ Experience in sheet metal manufacturing
SCOPE:
Create and design equipment, mechanisms, and optional features for new and existing products, providing drawings and flat pattern layouts reflecting concern for function, costs, manufacturability, and quality.
FUNCTION:
This position reports to the Plant Manager of the business unit and is responsible for working from 2D and 3D models or blueprints to generate flat pattern sheet metal parts for the Laser cutting and press brake machines. The position will have frequent contact with persons in manufacturing, the mechanical design team, sales, and management personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB Responsibilities:
+ Use AutoCAD software to generate flat pattern sheet metal parts and FP plumbing details.
+ Program parts for the Lasers using SigmaNest.
+ Solicit feedback from production personnel; troubleshoot production problems relating to part design criteria.
+ Research limitations and restrictions due to UL, NSF, UMC, NFPA, and any other governing entity dictating design requirements.
+ Maintain and update product design criteria as necessary.
+ Provide feedback to Sales and Drafting departments regarding design criteria.
+ Provide technical support to Sales, Drafting, and Manufacturing as required.
+ Research new and improved construction methods for continued product improvement.
+ Train personnel in product designs, as required.
+ Assist in standardizing selection criteria for parts.
+ Properly maintain drawing system integrity in the product data management system.
+ Work independently to complete groups of drawing projects with good documentation and organization.
+ Importing BOMs and material call-outs in Syspro.

+ Sit at a desk and work on a computer for several hours per day.
+ Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Compensation Information:
Hourly Pay Range: $28-31
