    Overview

     

    Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking a **Manager, Engineering D - Deputy Engineering Manager Waste Retrieval and Tank Closure** to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

     

    This Manager reports to the Chief Engineer or Engineering Director, and manages an engineering segment and/or multiple departments of engineering and technical staff personnel to support unit and company mission and objectives. Directs the accomplishment of multiple large projects, small projects, division managed modifications, and other operating engineering support in the Waste Retrieval and Tank Closure facility.

    Responsibilities

    + Identifies/promotes innovation and implements cost-saving and efficient design techniques.

    + Leads or participates in unit and/or company-wide initiatives to resolve programmatic issues and to improve resource and operating efficiency and quality.

    + Identifies the needs of the assigned unit/group based on facility/program owner requirements and allocates resources to accomplish the objectives. Develops forecasts for resources, subcontractor support and equipment procurements in support of the plan. Conducts periodic reconciliation of resource needs versus budgets, negotiates needs with resource managers and reallocates resources as appropriate.

    + Reviews status reports and trends. Provides direction for corrective actions and monitors progress to ensure work is completed and meets quality standards.

    + Ensures the execution of activities and assignments of the unit are consistent with expected quality, cost and schedule and aligned with company objectives.

    + Develops and directs implementation of technical programs to bring existing programs into compliance with new and revised requirements.

    + Provides technical expertise and input to the Engineering Standards Board, Technical Committees, National Engineering Committees, and DOE HQ sponsored technical committees as applicable.

    + Establishes and maintains communications/interfaces with internal and external groups (e.g. regulators) commensurate with relative impact on execution of group responsibilities.

    + Serves as a management resource for the resolution of complex engineering issues on an as needed basis.

    + Champions a safety conscious work environment and encourages personnel to improve existing techniques and to explore different and diverse technologies to improve existing methods.

    + Develops engineering personnel by understanding and providing expert engineering cognizance including establishing minimum personnel qualification requirements, providing professional and technical development opportunities, coaching, and counseling personnel, and constantly challenging personnel to ensure adequate technical inquisitiveness and discipline are being applied.

    + Manages engineering subcontractor activities, authorizing new work and approving changes to the baseline for subcontractors as needed.

    + Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    + BS in Engineering or related technical or science degree, with progressive engineering experience.

    + Demonstrated leadership experience including previous direct people management

    + Project or Engineering Management experience

    Additional Information:

    + This position may fall under DOE Order 426.2 and as such must meet the conditions of the order.

    + On an exception basis, equivalencies for education and experience may be applied. Post-secondary education may reduce the years of experience required for entry.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Broad technical base which demonstrates chemical and/or nuclear material knowledge

    + Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, and DOE orders

    + Current SRMC work experience

    + High Level Waste, Commercial Nuclear Power, DOE Nuclear and/or Naval Nuclear management experience

    Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor.     Minimum Pay

     

    USD $163,000.00/Yr.

     

    Maximum Pay
