    JOB TITLE: Plant Controller - Finance DATE: July 2025 LOCATION: Shelbyville, TN JOB FAMILY: Finance TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: VP, Finance Operations NOTE: This is a multi-position / multi-incumbent job.     GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB:

    + Responsible for financial reporting, planning and support of one or more manufacturing plants.

    + Responsible for the broad administration and direction of financial controls to support objectives.

    + Provide all operational financial reporting and manufacturing cost analysis.

    + Prepare, coordinate, and process financial forecasting and planning requirements.

    + Monitor financial performance.

    + Analyze and interpret operation results, evaluate variances and assess the effects on the operation.

    + Make recommendations for operational changes.

    + Review and standardize cost accounting practices.

    + Implement performance benchmarks.

    + Establish efficient data collection methodology for all cost elements.

    + Provide analytical support to the Business Controller, Plant Manager, Director of Operations and Senior Management.

    + Provide meaningful performance measures by location, line and shift to manufacturing management.

    + Provide costs analyses as appropriate to identify areas for cost improvements. Provide product costs for pricing.

    + Manage the materials management group which is responsible for setting supply levels, establishing usage benchmarks, measuring shrink and monitoring usage of all materials.

     

    Incumbents of this role are required to be on call and/or available after hours, to provide their own mobile device, and to distribute their mobile phone number accordingly. Alternatively, individuals may distribute their office phone number if their office phone is set to forward calls to their personal device when they are not physically present. STANDARD ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Provide appropriate controls and compliance to general auditing and accounting practices /procedures and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Compliance. Maintain routine accounting practices such as to ensure proper balance sheet account reconciliations and physical inventory procedures are followed and documented. FINANCIAL ANALYSIS RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE: Perform standard cost accounting leading to detailed cost variance analysis. Develop proactive indicators and predictive cost models to identify key drivers and trends for risks and opportunities to financial plans. Conduct monthly analysis of financial results and present to plant operations management and divisional finance leadership. .Integrate plant level information with the broader organization. Facilitate and support operational analysis to identify improvement opportunities. Teach and educate the organization on financial controls. RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – In any job with supervisory responsibilities, the following are an explicit part of the incumbent’s responsibilities and essential functions:

    + Participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel.

    + Clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities to enable individuals to proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions.

    + Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis; conduct effective performance reviews; take corrective action whenever necessary and, where necessary, work with HR Generalists to establish performance improvement plans.

    + Support the development of assigned personnel’s skills and abilities, and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct (Jostens values) and work performance.

    + Identify and resolve skill gaps and succession issues.

    + Administer Company policies with regard to discipline, absenteeism, etc., in a fair and equitable manner, and fully document all incidents and actions taken.

    + Involve assigned HR Generalist on compliance issues such as pay equity, equal opportunity in hiring and promotions, and proper procedures for hiring, terminations, lay-offs, etc.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS: Note that (i) computer literacy and working-level skill with the basic MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer), (ii) good verbal and written communication skills, (iii) good interpersonal skills, and (iv) the ability to work well both individually and in a team environment are default requirements for all Jostens exempt and salaried nonexempt employees. Required:

     

    + BA/BS in accounting, finance or business.

    + 8 years of finance experience in a manufacturing environment.

    + Strong understanding of variance analysis.

    + Demonstrated ability to design and implement cost systems.

    + Good communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.

    + Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

    + Proven leadership in the accounting/finance area.

    + Results oriented and strategic focused with proven results.

    + Proven experience using Microsoft Office, Project, and Oracle.

    Preferred:

    + MBA

    + CPA/CMA
