    Description

    The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the family’s home or community. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs.     Schedule

     

    Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.

     

    What You’ll Do

     

    + Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community

    + Interact with the child and participate in fun activities

    + Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS

    + Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.

     

    What You’ll Need

     

    + Graduate of accredited nursing program

    + Current valid RN/LPN license in Iowa

    + Documentation of CPR/BLS certification

    + Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years

    + Experience working with children with special health care needs preferred

    + Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand

    + Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language
