Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Child Life Specialist (CLS), assists with the delivery of therapeutic activities/interventions to pediatric patients and their families in order for the patients and their families to maintain a healthy attitude towards illness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Assists in planning and implementing activities for pediatric patients and families, including set-up and clean-up of activities.
+ Assists Child Life Specialist (CLS) in gathering and transporting children to planned activities.
+ Participates in individual and group sessions.
+ Assists CLS during therapeutic play interventions with patients in individual and group sessions.
+ Assists in caring for the needs of off-service pediatric patients by providing activities for and visiting with the patient.
+ Aids in assessing the needs of patients through collaboration with other health care personnel.
+ Reports interactions with and observations of patients and families to CLS.
+ Assists with the general maintenance of toys, equipment, play and storage areas and with the evaluation and purchasing of program materials.
+ Provides a clean, well-stocked and well-organized safe playroom environment.
+ Provides clerical assistance by copying, filing, and maintaining department equipment.
+ Ensures equipment is in working order.
+ Completes work related tasks as assigned by the CLS.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ High School diploma and experience in working with children and/or adolescents required
+ Two years post high school education preferred
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
