HOURS; Full Time (40 hours/week) Evening Shift. 7:30 pm-4:00 am Mon-Friday. Every third weekend (both Saturday and Sunday). No holidays. Ability to flex hours as needed including the potential for an earlier start time one day per week. Schedule to be discussed in more depth during interview process.
**POSITION SUMMARY:** This position will serve as a working leader within the department performing both Phlebotomy and administrative responsibilities including monitoring daily operations, staff schedules, workflow, supply inventory, etc. The coordinator will also oversee onboarding and training of new and existing staff members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
+ Functions as a Phlebotomy Technician.
+ Monitors and directs daily operations including staff schedules, workflow, supply inventory, patient care, equipment function, and intra- plus inter- departmental communications.
+ Monitors patient volume and adjusts processes and staffing to optimize workflow.
+ Monitors incoming orders and reviews for timeliness and accuracy. Dispatches other phlebotomists as necessary to maintain turnaround times. Monitors pending reports for outstanding orders.
+ Provides administrative support to the department Supervisor and Manager, relaying information relating to business operations.
+ Oversees the onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff members.
+ Monitors staff performance, competence concerns.
+ Facilitates and participates in operations that ensure compliance, licensure, and safety standards.
+ Identifies problems quickly and uses existing resources to implement corrective action in a timely manner. Provides expertise in initial investigation of exception situations, or other adverse events.
+ Provides customer service including support of employees in difficult service recovery situations.
+ Acts as a resource to others concerning lab and hospital computer systems.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:** **The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
+ In the absence of the Supervisor, acts as the primary contact.
+ Serves on committees and task forces as requested.
+ Works with varied intra- and inter- departmental teams to assure care continuity and process improvement.
+ Assists Supervisor with projects as assigned.
+ Performs administrative duties as assigned.
+ Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
+ Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Three (3) years documented Phlebotomy experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Certification in Phlebotomy and/or Graduate of Phlebotomy training program.
+ Experience in Point of Care Lab testing.
+ Two (2) years’ experience in a work setting using computer skills.
+ Two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare or customer service setting.
