    Job Type:

    Per Diem (with the potential to lead to PT or FT employment)

    Position Summary:

    Responsible for providing office-based psychiatric services. Scope of services includes psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to patients referred both internally and from external referral sources.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    1.Evaluate and treat patients.

    + Assess, diagnose, and treat adults and adolescents experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders.

    + Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.

    + Counsel clients during appointments, as necessary.

    + Design/participate in the development of patient-centered treatment plans.

    + Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders.

    + Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on the patient’s conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.

    2.Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure patient needs are met.

    + Make appropriate patient referrals.

    + Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to outside entities/agencies as required.

    + Assist nursing staff in providing emergency first aid, crisis intervention, and observing infection control procedures.

    3.Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including billing records.

    + Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.

    + Record all services performed for accurate billing for services provided in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as payor rules and regulations.

    4.Ensure compliance with agency and regulatory policies and processes, as well as clinical best practices.

    + Collaborate with Practice Manager or other Health Center leadership on the development and update of policies and procedures.

    + Participate in the interdisciplinary peer review process and make recommendations/provide education to other care team members.

    + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and comply with all regulatory and compliance issues.

    + Participate in required credentialing processes.

    + participate in continuing education activities.

    5.Perform other duties as requested or directed by supervisor(s).

    Requirements

    + Master’s Degree in Nursing

    + PMHNP-BC: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified

    + Valid New York State RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses

    + Two years of post-licensure experience with solid competency in practicing Psychotherapy

    + Active DEA license
