Overview
The SRE team works closely with all application and infrastructure teams across REI.com to bring a full-stack perspective on how our microservices and infrastructure are working together. We ensure the entire stack is working seamlessly to create the best customer experience possible.
We are looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the team. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate engineer to lead and participate on an innovative team, grow their skills, and explore new technical challenges.
The team supports and espouses the DevOps mindset and drives the application development community to share and incorporate new concepts and technologies which support our objectives.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsible for
+ **Running** a complex hybrid cloud **website** and troubleshooting problems as they arise using **automation** whenever possible.
+ Building **monitoring** tools and **alerting** capabilities.
+ Building **infrastructure** and platform components, mostly in AWS.
+ Site **security** , collaborating with our Security Engineering team.
+ Ensuring site performance and capabilities by participating in performance, **load** , and stress **testing** .
+ **Evangelizing** SRE’s mission to REI’s engineering community including cloud engineering best practices and operational readiness.
+ Assessing and determining **root** **cause** **analysis** of problems, turning them into opportunities to positively impact performance, reliability, and security.
+ Advocating for the end customer and delivering a **customer** **experience** that exceeds expectations.
You’re passionate about
+ Acting as an effective **technical** **lead** within the team and on projects.
+ **Coaching** and **mentoring** application teams regarding DevOps and Operational Readiness best practices.
+ Providing technical **leadership** and **training** to less experienced team members.
+ **Automating** all aspects of software delivery and operations.
+ **Agile** work methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
Your knowledge, skills, and abilities
+ 6 or more years of progressively complex related experience that spans multiple areas for example: Java, Vue.js, ReactJS, SWIFT, Objective-C, Kotlin or ABAP.
+ **Expert** skills required in a **minimum** **of one** of the following areas: **Linux** administration, **Java** development and **jvm** support, website **infrastructure (AWS)** .
+ **Proficient** in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, etc).
+ Experience **leading** engineers in operating complex large-scale applications, or websites.
+ **Strong** background building, deploying, and using monitoring tools such as Netdata, Graphite, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Datadog, Cloudwatch, etc.
+ Cloud Experience, preferably with **AWS** & **Terraform.**
+ Experience supporting and deploying **microservices** , including building, maintaining, and deploying containers.
+ **Continuous delivery** tooling: nexus, Gitlab, Jenkins, etc.
+ **Security** experience in website operations and development best practices.
+ Development background, especially in **Java** (nice to have but not required).
+ **Ecommerce** experience (nice to have but not required).

Pay Range
$130,200.00 - $208,200.00 per year
