    Overview

     

    This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital, FT. Benning, Georgia.

    This is a full-time Civilian Physician (Pediatrician)position located at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning GA that affords job security, a competitive salary, bonuses, moving expenses, full malpractice coverage, up to 26 days paid vacation, 11 days paid Federal Holidays, a sick leave benefit, 401K, CME opportunities, a first-class health and retirement benefit package.

    Responsibilities

    As a Physician Pediatrician you will:

    Serves as a Physician in Pediatrics. Evaluates and treats acute and chronically ill patients, arrangingadmissions and follow-up care post hospitalization as needed; arranges consultations tosubspecialty physicians at this and other hospitals as necessary. Will assist in lifting, maneuvering,and positioning patients up to 45 lbs. Orders laboratory tests and x-rays necessary to completediagnosis, and correlates results obtained with the clinical findings. Prescribes and administers treatment, diet, and other corrective action for ambulatory patients. Evaluates and counselschildren and their families, who have problems in the areas of behavior or learning, either at homeor at school. Answers telephonic and other remote inquiries from patients and provides appropriateadvice and instructions, i.e., patient portal, and provides follow up care. Completes requiredtraining, timekeeping, and other administrative duties inherent to medical/clinical activities.

     

    Evaluates and manages hospital-based medical care for acute, chronic, life-threatening and/orterminal illnesses on the pediatric inpatient ward and newborn nursery. Provides inpatient care toinclude the evaluation and admission of patients from the emergency department, other clinics, andoutside facilities to include direct admissions; the provision of daily care to patients while in thehospital to include the consultation of other services to facilitate that care; and the coordination ofdischarge planning activities. Provides oversight to medical students, interns, and residents andother health care providers as assigned on the inpatient ward and newborn nursery.

     

    Attends Well Baby Clinics and gives advice and counseling to parents concerning special diets, childdevelopment, genetic counseling, and other matters of concern to parents. Serves as consultant tonurses on problems related to well childcare and preventive pediatrics. Participates in clinic andclinical staff meetings and Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences. Participates in PrimaryCare Clinic Quality Improvement through periodic chart and procedure audits, CME and qualityassurance activities as assigned, and participates in monthly training sessions. Teaches andprovides consultation to students, residents, interns, and other health care providers as assigned.Attendance to clinics, meetings, and trainings may require travel outside of the clinic.

    Qualifications

    US Citizenship required

     

    Board Certified in Pediatrics

     

    Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

     

    Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
