Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Patient Safety Coordinator, you will support the patient safety department in the maintenance of the grievance process, the patient safety event surveillance system to improve patients and visitor safety and overall quality of care and assisting in risk related activities.

+ You will assist the Patient Safety Department in supporting the facility in resolving patient complaints and promoting a positive experience for our patients and visitors.

+ You will collect, analyze and trend data on patient grievances utilizing the patient grievance and PSO tracking database.

+ You will monitor patient Grievance responses and investigate delayed responses as appropriate

+ You will assist in monitoring the implementation of SEA action plans

+ You will ensure compliance with the organizational wide Patient Grievance program to ensure compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards of professional organizations

+ You will collaborate and share pertinent information with members of the healthcare team regarding the Patient Grievance/Safety program to drive actions for improvement

+ You will assist in the development and participate in contingency plans of organizational patient safety initiatives

+ You will follow established guidelines for reporting, responding to, and monitoring compliance with the patient care grievances which result in formal grievances which include, but are not limited to reporting to the Board

+ You will promote an environment of teamwork within the department and externally with other departments

+ You will effectively utilize teamwork to address patient safety concerns

+ You will assist in the investigation of incidents that could lead to professional or general liability claims

+ You will provide reports and take meeting minutes for Patient Safety Committee

+ You will assist the Patient Safety team in managing the Event Reporting Process You will manage the facility’s Patent Grievance and Complaint Process according to CMS requirements and other agencies, such as The Joint Commission

What qualifications you will need:

+ Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field

+ 1 plus year(s) of experience in healthcare

+ 1 plus year(s) of experience in quality and/or patient safety/risk management – preferred

+ 1 plus year(s) of experience in managing software reporting program – preferred

+ Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or other healthcare related programs
