Senior Accountant – Oil & Gas

Industry: Oil & Gas (Midstream)

Job Type: Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule

An established and growing Oil & Gas company in Houston is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a high-impact role responsible for reviewing the work of staff accountants and taking ownership of more complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial consolidations. The company has recently acquired a joint venture (JV) with multiple sub-entities, and the Senior Accountant will play a key role in preparing and consolidating financials for these JVs.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff accountants

+ Prepare complex journal entries and assist with month-end close

+ Consolidate financials for multiple joint ventures (JVs)

+ Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and senior leaders

+ Assist in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy

+ Serve as a mentor and resource for junior team members (no direct reports)

Requirements

Senior Accountant Requirements:

+ 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years at the Senior Accountant level

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

+ Strong general ledger and reconciliation skills

+ Experience reviewing accounting entries and mentoring staff

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with executive leadership

+ Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

+ CPA certification

+ Experience in the Midstream Oil & Gas sector

+ Exposure to joint venture (JV) accounting and consolidations
