Inventory Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Inventory Accountant to join our team in Fort Worth, Texas. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a vital role in managing and analyzing inventory records to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about optimizing inventory practices.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate inventory records through monthly reconciliations, including both physical counts and system data.
• Monitor and validate inventory transactions such as receipts, transfers, returns, and issues to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Investigate and resolve inventory variances by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Record and track cost of goods sold, inventory adjustments, and obsolescence reserves.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and reports related to inventory for month-end close processes.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standard costs and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to analyze material usage, rework, and scrap.
• Ensure inventory practices align with internal controls, regulatory standards, and industry certifications.
• Support audits by providing comprehensive inventory documentation and analysis.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory reporting accuracy and streamline processes. Requirements • Proven experience in inventory accounting and reconciliation processes.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with SAP HANA or similar automated inventory systems.
• Solid understanding of balance sheet and bank reconciliation practices.
• Ability to manage annual physical inventory and ensure adequate inventory controls.
• Knowledge of standard costing methods and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
