Description

We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Accountant to join a Consulting firm in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a contract-to-permanent position, offering a chance to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise in payroll administration and accounting will be highly valued. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities:

• Process, verify, and calculate bi-weekly payroll.

• Maintain accurate payroll records.

• Prepare and distribute payroll reports on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Assist in calculating bonuses, salary-based compensation, and reconciling payroll accounts.

• Address payroll discrepancies.

• Respond to employee inquiries with clarity.

• Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies, recommending updates as needed.

• Manage payroll journal entries and ensure timely payment of invoices related to employee benefits.

• Lead audits related to payroll and retirement plans, and provide necessary documentation for financial statement audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll processing, with multi-state payroll experience being a plus.

• Proficiency in payroll software and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

• Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and accounting principles.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently while meeting strict deadlines.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Certifications such as Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Specialist (CPP) are advantageous.
