This is a part-time position. Part-time employees work up to 16 hours a week, enjoy flexibility in their schedule, and are eligible to receive holiday pay and annual & sick leave pay on a prorated basis.

General Statement

Culinary Services Division (http://www.montana.edu/culinaryservices/) ( CSD ), a division of Auxiliary Services, provides meals and specialty beverages for over 18,000 customers daily and is an integral part of campus life and the overall college experience. CSD proudly provides Montana State University students with not only a repertoire of various cuisines, cooking styles, and flavors, but a comfortable atmosphere to meet friends, study, and simply relax. The division is comprised of 2 residential dining halls, a commissary kitchen, several retail operations including 4 coffee shops, Chick-fil-A, the Union Market and Bobcat Grill, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions, Fork in the Road food truck, MSU Catering, Indulge In-House Bakery, and the Farm to Campus Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Custodians provide cleaning and light maintenance services in and around food service areas. The primary emphasis is on cleaning the public areas which include restrooms, carpeted and hard-surface floor care, kitchens, trash removal, furniture set-ups and other related duties. Custodians may work individually or on a team. This position is asked to interact in a positive manner with all guests to accomplish the department mission.

+ Clean and sanitize all public and common areas. To include: restrooms, service areas, stairwells, etc.

+ Carpeted and hard-surface floor care

+ Trash removal

+ Set up and tear down of areas such as conference spaces/seating spaces/public spaces dependent on facility

+ Move and straighten furniture, light food service equipment, dishes, glasses etc

+ May shovel snow at entry ways

+ Other related custodial duties

+ Actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the department’s mission.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

+ Experience working in custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, etc.

+ Experience working effectively with minimal or no supervision.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

+ Experience providing excellent customer service.

+ Certifications, classes completed, or knowledge of safety procedures utilized in a custodial, janitorial or housekeeping position.

+ This is a part-time, non-benefited position. We will work with your schedule. Hours are up to 16 hours/week.

+ Occasional work outside and in inclement weather assisting with snow removal.

+ Possess a 4-hour sanitation certification or have the ability to become certified.

+ Some custodial positions require a valid State of Montana driver’s license. If offered one of those positions, that requirement will be discussed with you prior to hire.

Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

+ Stationary or moving about for extended periods of time

+ Frequently moving, transporting and placing containers/objects up to 30 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs. (items may include stacking chairs, folding tables, floor sealer, bed frames, dressers, desks, etc.)

+ Moving up and down stairs occasionally while carrying containers/objects

+ Moving up and down a step ladder

+ Bending, kneeling, stretching and general moving about while stocking products

+ Gripping handles on equipment

+ Performing repetitive motions related to job duties

+ Regular exposure to cleaning solutions

+ Occasionally shovel snow
