Position Summary: The Insurance Enroller will be responsible for outreach, education and coverage enrollment for uninsured individuals into health insurance and other coverage (e.g. New York State of Health, AccessNYC , Family Planning Benefit Program, PrEP -Ap, and ADAP).
The major duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Direct Service
+ Provide in person health insurance enrollment services to uninsured individuals in Western Queens
+ Provide enrollment assistance to individuals with the renewal of health plans and other coverage programs
+ Remind potential participants of appointments.
Education
+ Meet with and educate clients and the types of health insurance programs.
+ Provide education on into Qualified Health Plans (QHPs), supplementary plans available, and into Insurance Affordability Programs (IAPs) , through the New York State of Health , and AccessNYC .
+ Provide education on coverage programs for health care, including Family Benefit Planning Program.
+ Assist potential enrollees with grievances, complaints or questions regarding their health coverage determination related to their coverage.
+ Inform enrollees of their rights to appeal decisions on their eligibility and enrollment into insurance.
Outreach and Collaboration
+ Conduct in-person outreach to individuals, community-based organizations, churches and small businesses in Jackson Heights, Corona, and Elmhurst .
+ Identify and establish collaboration with organizations and community sites for client recruitment and referral.
+ Represent Apicha CHC to articulate mission and services provided.
+ Outreach and recruit clients into Apicha CHC services, including primary care
Compliance
+ Provide information in a fair and impartial manner which is culturally and linguistically appropriate, and disability accessible, for the populations being served under the Exchange, including individuals with limited English proficiency.
+ Meet requirements set by funding sources and by the agency, including timely submission of project reports and all required data entry.
+ Participate in program evaluation and CQI activities as assigned
+ Function as a part of multi-disciplinary team
+ Attend all required training sessions and meetings.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with 1 year of working experience required.
+ Be as certified for New York State of Health within 2 months.
+ Strong experience in working with target population
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
+ Independent and good team player.
+ Good attention to detail.
+ Fluency in one or more A&PI languages or Spanish preferred
+ Ability to work well with diverse population .
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks and stressful environment .
+ Ability to work well within the organizational structure.
+ Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
+ Ability to work with multiple databases.
+ Ability to use common office software. (Word, Excel, Power Point).
