    Position Information

    Position Title Assistant Coach for Men’s Lacrosse

     

    FLSA Exempt

    Primary Responsibilities

    St. Lawrence University invites applications and nominations for a full-time assistant coach responsible for the organization, administration, coaching and recruitment of student athletes for the lacrosse program. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills and to be able to work effectively with staff, faculty, and other members of the University community. The position will have a secondary assignment within the department before the official start of the season and at the completion of the season. Assignments such as game management, ticket operations, or additional duties as assigned. This is a full-time, 10-month, position.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    + Under the supervision of the head lacrosse coach includes but are not limited to: recruiting, teaching, counseling, scouting, and coaching in all phases of this Division III lacrosse program.

    + Provide elite on-site coaching in contests and practices, including organization and implementation of daily practices.

    + Communicate strategies to ensure high level performance.

    + Prepare film breakdown and analysis, and present analysis to team members.

    + Plan and prepare for competitions.

    + Provide support and encouragement to student athletes, including academic counseling and advising.

    + Monitor academic progress of student-athletes.

    + Recruit and retain highly talented athletes successfully, research academic and athletic credentials.

    + Build relationships with prospective student athletes and their families through email, phone and one-on-one meetings.

    + Organize and implement recruitment visits.

    + Understand NCAA and Liberty League rules.

    + Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.

    + Serve as an effective role model for college-age students.

    + Assist with day-to-day operations of the men’s lacrosse program.

    + Provide effective communication with the head coach.

    + Collaborate effectively with other Department of Athletics team members.

    + Assist with the coordination of team travel.

    + Assist with Alumni Relations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree required (Masters preferred).

    + Demonstrated ability to recruit quality student-athletes.

    + Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, faculty/staff, University community members and alumni.

    + Knowledge of NCAA and Liberty League rules & regulations pertaining to DIII men’s lacrosse.

    + Committed to the values of a Liberal Arts education.

    + Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering a quality student-athlete experience.

    + Must be organized, take initiative, and utilize strong time management skills.

    + Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

    + Valid driver’s license required and must meet the University’s Driver Safety Policy requirements.

    + Ability to travel for team practices, competition, and scouting in and out of state.

    + Strong positive communication and interpersonal skills with all levels.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Salary $50,338.17
