Job Description:
The School of Engineering at Brown University has a new and exciting opportunity to hire an Electronics Specialist.
The Electronics Specialist applies principles of electronic circuits, electrical testing procedures, computer programming, and related knowledge to design, layout, build, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair electronic scientific equipment. The position also manages and provides technical support to undergraduate teaching laboratories used by the Electrical and Computer Engineering students. The incumbent also helps to support Brown Cleanroom for maintaining research equipment and provides electronic and electrical assistance in the Brown Design Workshop.
This is a dual posting grade level will be determined by education and experience.

The successful candidate, as a minimum, should have the following background:
Grade 9
+ Associate's degree in electrical or computer engineering, in Physics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and 1 to 3 years of related experience required.
Grade 10
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, in Physics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Job Competencies for both
+ Proficiency (senior level) or familiarity (entry level) in electrical and electronic testing equipment, tools, troubleshooting, and repair.
+ Familiarity with analog and digital electronics, small-scale circuits, wiring, and computer interfacing.
+ Excellent developing skills at building equipment, including the best ways to intricately solder and de-solder miniature parts.
+ Familiarity with understanding technical schematics.
+ Excellent listening skills.
+ Ability to work well with students and faculty.
+ Initiative and ability to learn new skills quickly and independently.
+ Able to manage workflow and schedule.
+ Demonstrated ability to support and promote a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
