Job Description
Summary
As a **Sr. Software Engineer (Applications)** one works with and is mentored by a talented group of engineers in a fast moving, collaborative Agile development environment. In this role, one plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.
Position Responsibilities
+ Build up embedded Linux applications to control complex networked environments.· Develop web-based UI to support soldier created networks on the battlefield.· Work with program and engineering leadership to help understand requirements and influence design, analysis, and testing to ensure robust application reliability.· Work with cross-IPT disciplines such as Systems, Electrical, Hardware, and Test Engineering to align hardware and software goals.· Operate in a continuous learning environment and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
+ Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)· Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or any other relevant field is required.· Minimum 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in Windows and Linux software development.· Experience with Linux application development.· Expertise in the following: C++ and Python.· Strong experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).· Experience with developing web applications.· Understands lower level networking concepts, including the OSI model, socket programming, and network debugging.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
+ Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies· Advanced degree in relevant field is preferred.· Understanding of DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, Linux bridges, network stack internals.· Experience with Python-based web frameworks like Flask and FastAPI.· Experience with communicating to and controlling UAS, drones, or robotics is preferred.
Physical Demands
+ Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)
+ Required to stand and sit for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
The salary range for this role is:
$124,370 - $176,400
