Job Tile: Adult Day Center – Activities Manager
Reports to: Executive Director of Older Adults
Primary Responsibility:
Facilitate and oversee individual and group therapeutic recreational programs. Activities are designed based on the needs and interests of members and are intended to entertain, encourage interaction and relaxation, promote health, and contribute to the overall quality of our members’ days. The coordinator is expected to maintain a positive attitude, keep our members safe and always work to enhance the health and happiness of the people we serve and those who care for them.
Responsibilities:
+ Manage administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the day center.
+ Manage and maintain program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring all are organized, clean, stocked and in good working order.
+ Monitor and manage the activity budget effectively.
+ Oversee and provide guidance to activity assistants.
+ Conduct training sessions to ensure staff and volunteers are well-prepared to assist participants.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of activity plans, attendance, and client progress.
+ Observe and document clients' responses, progress, and any changes in behavior or well-being.
+ Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
+ Plan and implement a diverse range of activities suitable for older adults, considering their interests, abilities, and cognitive levels.
+ Plan and facilitate group activities such as exercise classes, arts and crafts, music therapy sessions, games, educational programs, and reminiscence therapy.
+ Provide guidance and assistance to clients during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
+ Encourage participation, engagement, and social interaction among clients, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
+ Other duties as assign.
Qualifications:
+ Associate degree: Additional education or certification in a related field (e.g., gerontology, recreational therapy) is preferred.
+ Prior experience working with older adults, preferably in an adult day center, assisted living, or similar environment.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with older adults, their families, and the care team.
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan and execute activities.
+ Ability to adapt and modify activities based on individual client needs and capabilities.
+ Advanced computer skills.
