    Maintenance Planner - Tank Job Summary

     

    The Marathon Los Angeles Carson Refinery located in Carson, California is looking for a Maintenance Planner for Tanks in the Maintenance organization.

     

    The Tank Maintenance Planner is responsible for the development of Tank equipment maintenance w o rk pa ck a g e s in a cc o rd an ce w i t h e st ab lis he d p r o c e ss e s. This position will d e v e l op de t a il e d w or k sc o pe plans, p r epa r e s c o s t an d labor- hou r e stima t e s, re q u is i ti on s mat e r i a ls and equipment. The Maintenance Planner will i dentify and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities. This position will c oordinate w ith inspection, en g in e e ring and Operations to develop complex job plans including the necessary materials and documentation. The work schedule for this position is Monday to Thursday 6 AM - 4:30 PM and after hours calls are required.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Manage current and future tank cleaning and repair Plan of the Plan that aligns with Inspection plans, Refinery Standard Procedures and refinery priorities

    + Maintain long range plan (5 year & 25 year plan) in coordination with Inspection, Operations and Economics and Planning groups.

    + I d e n t i f ies a n d re q u is i ti o n s re sou rces, m a t e r i a ls, a n d ad d iti o na l s e r v ices. P e r f or ms f i e ld a s s e ss m e n ts to gather planning details and v a li da te all r e q u ire m e n ts.

    + R e v i e w s w o r k p lans and process w i t h ap p r op r i a t e pe rs o n n e l. Ve r i f i e s w o r k instructi on s and c o mp ly w ith e st ab l i s he d p r o c edu r e s a n d s tanda rd s at both refinery and corporate level .

    + En s u re w o r k is p l anne d t ho ro u g h ly f o r scheduling a n d c on t a i ns the necessary safety plans, d ra w i n g s, sc he m a tics, p ipi n g, a n d in s t ru m en t a ti o n d i ag r a m s (P & ID ) , s a f e ty da ta s h ee ts ( S DS), m a t e r i a l list, safe work pe r m it requirements, e tcetera.

    + E n s u re ma t e r i a ls an d re s ou rces a r e a v a il ab le w he n the job i s s ch e du l e t o c o m m e n c e .

    + W o r k w ith en g in ee rs to develop appropriate work plans where appropriate.

    + Responsible for delivering their projects safely, efficiently, timely, and within budget targets.

    + Work as part of a cross-departmental team consisting of hourly staff, and contracted personnel to successfully achieve project objectives

    + Monitor, manage and communicate status and deviations from planning, scheduling, and execution plan of the plan in a timely manner.

    + Maintain a field presence and assist execution coordinators during the execution phase of the project

    + Able to read P&IDs, engineered tank plans, and isometric drawings

     

    Education, Experience and Skills

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Must have a high school degree or GED (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date).

    + Must have at least 7 years of experience with above ground storage tanks operation/tank maintenance/tank inspection or special tank maintenance projects.

    + Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.

    + Must be proficient in Primavera P6 experience.

    + Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical. Must be able to climb in tanks, stairs and enter confined space is required.

    + Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)

    + Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.

    + Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.

    + Travel Requirement is 5%.

    + The work schedule for this position is Monday to Thursday 6 AM - 4:30 PM and after hours calls are required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Familiarity with steel fabrication techniques such as welding, bolting, and bending is preferred.

    + Familiarity with API 653, API 510, and NACE coating standards is preferred

    + Previous Projects Experience is preferred.

    + Previous planning experience is preferred.

    + Experience with Microsoft: Projects and Teams is preferred.

    + Supervisor experience is preferred.
