General Job Description
This is a technical position responsible for providing comprehensive support and rapid response for classroom technology issues, troubleshooting, programming, and problem resolution. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Assistant Director of Classroom Support.
Essential Job Functions
1. Installs, configures, and provides rapid response support for classroom technologies, including but not limited to computers, projectors, audio/visual (AV) control devices, amplifiers, speakers, and cameras.
2. Monitors work order system and phones for reported issues.
3. Works with Information Technology Services, the Center for Teaching and Learning ( CTL ), and other university departments to maintain classroom technologies and upgrade selected classroom technologies to university standards, as necessary.
4. Provides support and training to faculty on the use of classroom technologies in conjunction with CTL .
5. Uses and maintains the infrastructure of classroom support systems, including projector management systems, device switching solutions, and other remote monitoring and maintenance tools.
6. Programs, configures, and supports the AV switching hardware and software to meet the needs and requests of the instructional community.
7. Coordinates resolution of non-technology classroom issues with appropriate departments.
8. Stays abreast of the technological needs of the instructional community.
9. Researches, evaluates, and recommends emerging classroom technologies.
10. Ensures university compliance with all federal, state and local disability laws.
11. Supports remote learning technology for faculty during and after normal working hours.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes and standards related to the area of responsibility.
3. Knowledge of the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of AV equipment, computer equipment, and other classroom technologies.
4. Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
6. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
7. Ability to analyze and solve work-related problems.
8. Ability to learn office and university-specific software.
9. Ability to use power tools such as hand saws and drills.
10. Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
11. Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties.
Physical Demands
Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including ability to stand for more than an hour at a time, sit for more than an hour at a time, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., push up to 50 lbs., climb ladders up to 20 feet, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, climb, balance, talk, and hear as well as close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Position requires exposure to extreme environmental conditions at times.
Required Education
Completion of at least two years of college coursework or an Associate’s degree in a related field is required. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
Required Experience and Training
One year of related experience is required. Additional education may substitute for experience on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience installing and troubleshooting classroom technologies including computers, projectors, amplifiers, and cameras is preferred. Experience with AV hardware and software and enterprise video communication software is preferred. Certifications related to the area of responsibility are preferred.

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
