JOB SUMMARY
The District SEBH Lead provides strategic leadership and coordination of the district's social, emotional, and behavioral health (SEBH) efforts with a focus on Tier 3 interventions. This position oversees the implementation of intensive SEBH supports through supervision, coaching, and systems alignment for SEBH Intervention Specialists and SEBH Behavior Technicians.
The SEBH Lead supports the fidelity and impact of interventions, ensures alignment with district MTSS and PBIS frameworks, and drives collaboration across departments to improve outcomes for students with complex behavioral needs. This role also supports professional learning, program development, and continuous improvement efforts across all district schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Supervision
+ Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to SEBH Intervention Specialists and SEBH Behavior Technicians.
+ Facilitate regular team meetings and professional learning aligned to evidence-based practices.
+ Supervise, evaluate, and coach SEBH staff to ensure high-quality, data-driven service delivery.
+ Collaborate with the Director of Behavior Supports to prioritize deployment of SEBH staff based on district needs.
Systems Development and Alignment
+ Support the development and refinement of Tier 3 SEBH systems across all district schools.
+ Ensure alignment of Tier 3 supports with MTSS and PBIS district frameworks.
+ Analyze student- and school-level behavior data to monitor impact and inform decision-making.
+ Collaborate with Special Education, Student Services, and school leaders to support a unified approach to SEBH.
Coaching and Capacity Building
+ Provide direct coaching and modeling for Intervention Specialists and Behavior Technicians on FBAs, BIPs, de-escalation strategies, and social-emotional programming.
+ Assist school teams in building sustainable Tier 3 practices, including coaching on fidelity monitoring and data-based decision-making.
+ Develop and facilitate targeted professional development on crisis response, trauma-informed practices, and restorative strategies.
Intervention Quality and Program Support
+ Monitor the quality and consistency of Behavior Intervention Plans and FBA processes led by SEBH staff.
+ Ensure proper implementation of specialized programs (e.g., AIM, DBT-informed practices) across buildings.
+ Support the reintegration of students from therapeutic settings, ensuring seamless collaboration with SEBH teams.
Collaboration and Communication
+ Serve as a liaison between SEBH staff, building administrators, families, and community agencies.
+ Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to support placement decisions, re-entry planning, and intervention alignment.
+ Communicate regularly with district leaders about program outcomes, staff support needs, and systemic recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience
+ Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Behavior Analysis, or related field preferred.
+ Minimum five years of school-based experience with behavioral intervention, including Tier 3 supports.
+ Experience supervising or coaching staff in behavior intervention or social-emotional programming.
Skills and Competencies
+ Deep knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, trauma-informed practices, and Tier 3 behavioral interventions.
+ Expertise in conducting and coaching Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
+ Familiarity with evidence-based programs such as AIM, DBT-informed strategies, and ACT approaches.
+ Strong leadership, coaching, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to build relationships across diverse teams and communities.
+ Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
Licenses/Certifications
+ Valid Iowa driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple district sites.
+ Certification or willingness to become certified in Safety Care or other district-approved crisis prevention program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
+ Primarily school-based with regular travel to buildings across the district.\\
+ Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for professional development or family engagement events.
+ Indoor work environment with occasional need for crisis response in active school settings.
