ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for an Asphalt Paving Machine Operator to support the operations in the Asphalt division. This position will be responsible for operating the paving machine to lay asphalt evenly, maintaining correct thickness, width, and grade according to project specifications. Coordinating with the crew and managing asphalt flow from trucks to the paver to ensure smooth, continuous paving without stoppages or defects.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
+ Operate asphalt paving equipment to spread and level asphalt on a variety of surfaces, including roads and parking lots.
+ Adjust machine settings (such as screed depth and width) to ensure the correct material distribution and smooth finish.
+ Monitor the paving process to ensure consistent quality and alignment with specifications.
+ Coordinate with the crew and dump truck drivers to ensure continuous asphalt delivery to the paver.
+ Maintain proper machine speed, material feed, and surface smoothness throughout the paving process.
+ Perform regular equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation.
+ Ensure the safety of the worksite by following all safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Follow grade stakes, blueprints, and project guidelines to meet project specifications and maintain proper elevation and slope.
+ Communicate effectively with the foreman and other crew members to coordinate tasks and address any issues during operation.
+ Assist with the cleanup and maintenance of equipment and the work area after daily operations
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
+ **Education:** High School Diploma
+ **Field of Study Preferred:** N/A
+ **Required Work Experience:** 1-2 years miniumun experience operating an asphalt paver (screed and main control functions)
+ **Travel Requirements:** Daily travel required
+ Ability to maintain consistent depth, width, and surface smoothness
+ Knowledge of asphalt paving procedures and material behavior
+ Basic understanding of grades, slopes, and elevation controls
+ Must be able to work long hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
+ Ability to perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment
+ Must have reliable transportation
+ Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.)
+ Must be able to pass a 7-year criminal background check (including felonies and misdemeanors)
+ Must pass a DOT physical and drug screen
+ Experience in commercial or municipal paving projects is a plus
+ Team-oriented with good communication skills to work with crew and supervisors
+ Pass a 7-year criminal background check, including both felonies and misdemeanors, as required for employment
Additional Requirements:
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
