• Energy Advisor

    South Central Power Company (Lancaster, OH)


    South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Energy Advisor at our Lancaster office.

     

    Responsibilities include providing advice, assistance and information to residential members regarding energy use, energy delivery systems, energy programs and overall energy cooperative operations. This role includes field work such as meeting the member at their residence and occasional presentations at public and industry events. Also includes serving as an initial point of contact and project facilitator for members who are interested in energy programs, have advanced energy service questions, and/or are installing renewable solar systems at their home or small business.

     

    The selected candidate will receive incremental training from the Building Performance Institute to achieve the Building Science Principles Certificate of Knowledge within two years from hire date. Additional training will be available to advance within the job family. This position will report to the Energy Services Manager.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree or similar experience is required. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, three years of relevant experience will be accepted.

    + Candidates must have exceptional written, oral, and listening skills to effectively communicate with members, vendors and the public while engaging the energy cooperative culture.

    + Required skills include creative problem solving, efficient time management, and friendly yet firm negotiations.

    + Ability to work in a team environment with shared responsibilities to complete a project.

    + Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience in customer/public relations or other areas of utility operations, or similar experience.

     

    Preferences

     

    + Knowledge of electric or natural gas utility operations, engineering basics, and/or energy cooperative principles is preferred.

    + Additional formal training or experience in public speaking, mathematics and composition preferred.
