    The School of Education & Leadership at Hamline University invites seasoned administrator applications for a teaching-track Professor of Practice with expertise in K-12 administration. We seek a colleague to work with us on a variety of contemporary issues in education.

    JOB SUMMARY

    This new teaching-track faculty member will support the School of Education and Leadership in its journey of transformation and developing culturally responsive/sustaining school administrators who are able to embody the school’s core values:

    Reporting to the Chair of HSEL and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, this individual will play an integral role in the vibrant and collaborative HSEL faculty and staff community at Hamline. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Administrative Licensure and EdS programs and other foundational courses, coordinate the administrative license program (including oversight of scheduling, selection of instructors, and accreditation processes), advise graduate students, maintain engagement with schools, BOSA, and other relevant agencies, support innovative programming and research, and contribute to the shared governance of the unit. The position collaborates extensively with faculty and staff throughout the School of Education & Leadership, particularly in the EdD and other advanced degree programs.

    The ideal candidate will be:

    + A licensed Minnesota K-12 administrator with at least three years of experience

    + Adept in the use of instructional technology

    + Successful at creating culturally responsive environments and schools, using inclusive practices, and planning

    + Familiar with Minnesota’s Administrative Licensure Standards

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Teach 24 credits a year within the program (with a 4-credit release during the first year)

    + An accesible approach to recruitment, support and retention of adjunct faculty

    + Recruit, support, and retain diverse students

    + Serve as a liaison for the department, program faculty and staff.

    + Collaborate with the Chair in matters pertaining to academic affairs and maintain curricular integrity at the program level.

    + Meet regularly with Chair and other faculty program coordinators to discuss common academic interests/challenges, gain information about policies and procedures, and ensure that academic matters pertaining to the specific program are properly addressed, communicated and resolved.

    + Facilitate conversations with program faculty regarding responsibilities such as curriculum review, program development, faculty resources, subcommittee activity, and adjunct relationships.

    + Hold regularly scheduled program meetings with core faculty. Invite adjunct faculty and staff members as needed.

    + Coordinate program reviews, including accreditation, in collaboration with Chair, program faculty and staff.

    + Facilitate cross-program/department collaboration between core and elective courses.

    + Facilitate the assignment of faculty advisors for students.

    + Document student academic issues and concerns; negotiate resolution.

    + Ensure representation at HSEL Information Sessions and other recruitment events.

    + Collaborate with Chair to coordinate course scheduling for the program.

    + Assist staff with editing and revising program-specific materials, including handbooks, learning contracts, and website content.

    + Coordinate the BIPOC Administrators Network

    + Serve on BOSA and/or be actively involved with the organization

    + Lead BOSA accreditation activities and data collection including understanding and implementing MN Rule 3512 regarding administrative licensure requirements and collaborating with BOSA to maintain and implement licensing standards.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES

    + Experience leading administratively in culturally and linguistically diverse K-12 settings for a minimum of three years;

    + Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in an interdisciplinary environment

    + Experience teaching online, in person, and in hybrid format.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    + Acquired terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field

    + A minimum of 3 years of PK-12 teaching experience;

    PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    + 5+ years of Administrative experience in K-12 settings;

    + Successful teaching at the university level;

    + Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

    + Superintendency;

    + Principal;

    + Special Education Director;

    + An established record of research and scholarship;

    + Funded research and potential to participate in grant writing.

    REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

    + An earned administrative license through an accredited state program;

    WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT

    Must be able to perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:

    + Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

    + Occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed

     

    Salary Range: $55,000 - $57,000
