    The Associate, Retail Banking (USVI Loan Processor) analyzes the residential loan application to ensure proper documentation, accuracy, and disclosures to obtain a mortgage loan approval by complying with loan product requirements, local and Federal regulations. Position works on-site and can be based in either of our St. Thomas or St. Croix branches.

    MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Accept all mortgage loan cases referred by dispatch unit for processing and reconcile the physical files received against information gathered in our mortgage platforms.

    + Maintain communication with Mortgage Sales Officers to advise of missing documentation, incomplete files, or any other defect preventing the loan to be forwarded to Underwriting.

    + Analyze consistently the loan file documents for accuracy, signatures, and complement with loan product requirements and Bank policies, guidelines and procedures. About 75% of the time is dedicated to this duty.

    + Keep loan file with updated information and maintain informed customer and other Bank personnel related to transaction, at least once a week.

    + Ensure that loan files contain updated documents with proper signatures, dates, and other relevant data to obtain a loan approval.

    + Perform a variety of duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.

    + Use office computers for data input and other activities and orders credit reports

    + Participate on any required meetings and mortgage related trainings as requested.

    + Review documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, closing dates and signatures

    + Answer inquiries concerning loan processing and information. Complete loan analysis, validate the necessary requirements by product and investor and regulations to submit the case to the credit committee.

    + Other duties may be assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    + Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Marketing or related field required.

    + Two (2) years of mortgage loan processing experience required.

    + Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

    + Able to communicate effectively and clearly with both internal and external stakeholders.

    + Adept in working independently by being organized, efficient and being able to meet aggressive deadlines and quotas.

    + Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to plan ahead and coordinate activities by establishing priorities, as well as meet and solve unforeseen situations.

    + Knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable mortgage loans & credit policies.

    + NMLS license is preferred but not required. Candidates without it will be expected to obtain it upon hire.

    + Proficiency in Encompass or related mortgage software required.

    + Proficient using the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) is required.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write communications clearly, concisely and effectively required. Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required.

    WORK AUTHORIZATION & ELEGIBILITY:

    + Legally authorized to work in the US is required. This position is of indefinite duration and requires candidates to have permanent or ongoing work authorization.

    + Employee is responsible for maintaining eligible work authorization throughout his tenure with the organization.
