    Job Overview

     

    BD, a leading global medical technology company, is seeking an Associate Director, Medical Affairs - Microbiology Platform to drive innovation and shape business decisions. In this strategic role, you will lead Medical Affairs strategy and execution, collaborate cross-functionally, and engage with scientific organizations and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). As a member of the platform leadership team, you will manage a team of Medical Affairs professionals, contribute to clinical research planning, and translate complex data into actionable insights.

     

    **Location** : Sparks, MD or open to Remote

    Requirements

    + Lead Medical Affairs strategy and execution for the Microbiology Platform

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Regulatory, R&D, HEOR, and regional leaders

    + Review promotional and educational materials for scientific accuracy and compliance

    + Build and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs); support advisory boards, speaker programs, and clinical marketing initiatives

    + Identify and engage expert consultants, investigators, and clinical study sites

    + Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a strong commitment to cross-functional success

    + Strong collaboration and influencing skills in a matrixed organization

    + Proven leadership and team mentorship capabilities, including managing direct reports

    + Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

    + High integrity and strong ethical standards

    + Sharp business acumen and critical thinking

    + Results-driven, process-oriented, and effective at setting and achieving goals

    + Skilled in presenting complex medical/scientific data to diverse audiences

    + Solid understanding of regulatory, commercial, and clinical aspects of the life sciences diagnostic industry

    + Ability to identify unmet clinical needs and evaluate product opportunities from a medical perspective

    + Capable of integrating scientific insights into business strategy and communicating across technical and non-technical teams

    Education

    Advanced degree (e.g., MSc, MD, or PhD) Preferred

    Experience

    + Minimum 5 years of experience in a healthcare field related to clinical practice, infectious diseases, lab medicine, clinical pathology, or diagnostics, preferred

    + At least 2 years of experience in the life sciences industry, preferred

    + Strong expertise in medical microbiology, infectious diseases, and/or laboratory medicine

    + In-depth understanding of clinical microbiology lab operations and clinical diagnostic decision-making is required

    + Demonstrated leadership and team management experience

     

    Workplace Arrangement

     

    Residence within 50 miles of Sparks, MD preferred (office-based, hybrid). Remote work will be considered, and time zone/ease of travel to Sparks for periodic meetings will be discussed.

     

    Travel: Up to 15%

The salary or hourly rate offered to a successful candidate is based on experience, education, skills, and any step rate pay system of the actual work location, as applicable to the role or position. Salary or hourly pay ranges may vary for Field-based and Remote roles.

     

    Salary Range Information

     

    $154,400.00 - $254,800.00 USD Annual
