Job Summary: The Senior Buyer will be responsible for performing tactical sourcing activities, including purchasing, long term contracts, planning and negotiating of materials for both our government businesses. The Senior Buyer reports to the Government Contract Supervisor. Works with multiple departments (Purchasing, Operations, Sales and Business Development) to resolve problems related to contracts, sales orders and purchase orders while participating in efficiently managing, tracking, and reporting order analysis to designated team members. Continually seeks out ways to improve and implement changes to provide a more efficient and accurate workflow.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Develop and execute a day to day and long-term sourcing strategy to help reduce costs and increase margin
+ Negotiate short term cost reductions directly after initial bid process.
+ Negotiate long term contracts and pricing sheets
+ Ensure timely delivery of products to meet customer requirements
+ Source and qualify new suppliers
+ Work cross functionally to ensure all customer and business requirements are met
+ Develop and execute a supplier scorecard system with support from cross functional departments
+ Collaborate with the Finance team to identify, explain and minimize variances to costs and budgets. Forecast future variances and budgets as necessary
+ Manage supplier relationships to ensure uninterrupted supply, and to contribute new ideas, reduce costs and improve quality
+ Timely placement of material to satisfy open Sales Order needs
+ Facilitates tracking of orders, confirmation of shipping notices and other applicable documents to ensure appropriate records retention and scheduled on time delivery
+ Facilitates invoice discrepancies, including research, troubleshooting, communication with appropriate parties and resolution to closure
+ Completes vendor updates including general and pricing maintenance, checking and maintaining inventory levels and understanding of purchase history
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain
+ 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement and supplier management
+ Proven track record in developing strong business relationships with key suppliers and experience in developing and executing long term agreements is required
+ Experience with complex negotiations, problem solving, strategic planning and financial analysis are essential
+ Ability to travel domestically is required

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
+ Negotiation skills are critical
+ Candidate needs to be able to operate effectively with all levels of management both internally and externally
+ The ability to lead cross-functional teams is essential to performing the job
+ Must thrive in an environment where constant multi-tasking is the norm in a fast paced environment
+ Must be proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other Microsoft products
