    About the Position:

We are seeking motivated candidates for the position of Information Systems Support Specialist in the Office of Information Services, supporting the Bureau of Corporations, Elections and Commissions (CEC). As an Information Systems Support Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the technical infrastructure and processes behind the new Central Voter Registration (CVR) system, with a particular focus on user authentication and system setup.

You will assist with the original and ongoing authentication process for municipal users and CEC staff, ensuring access is secure, documented, and aligned with system protocols. You will also support internal IT operations, including issue tracking, hardware and software configuration, and implementing security procedures. This role is essential in maintaining the reliability and integrity of the systems that support Maine’s elections infrastructure—but does not serve as a direct help desk for municipal CVR technical issues, which are handled by elections staff.

    What We’re Looking For:

+ Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with colleagues, management, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.

+ Adaptability: Willingness and ability to adapt to changing priorities, processes, and technologies.

+ Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills to identify issues and propose innovative solutions.

+ Attention to Detail: A focus on accuracy and thoroughness in completing tasks and managing responsibilities.

+ Professionalism: Maintain a positive and respectful work environment through thoughtful, courteous interactions.

    Key Competencies We Value:

+ Emotional Intelligence: Ability to understand and connect with others, showing empathy while maintaining professionalism and accountability.

+ Conflict Resolution & Feedback: Skill in managing difficult situations and offering constructive feedback with tact and respect.

+ Time Management: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to balance various responsibilities effectively.

+ Commitment to Excellence: Dedication to achieving high standards in service delivery and personal work performance.

+ Continuous Improvement: A mindset focused on improving processes, learning new skills, and supporting team development.

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide technical assistance related to the setup and maintenance of authentication credentials for municipal and staff users of the Central Voter Registration (CVR) system.

    • Collaborate with elections staff and OIS to ensure a secure and smooth onboarding process for new users.

    • Track, log, and troubleshoot technical issues using the Track-IT ticketing system, particularly those related to system access or authentication.

    • Install and configure system hardware, software, and communications equipment as needed.

    • Implement and monitor system security measures, including backups and access controls.

    • Support internal training and documentation related to system access, upgrades, or changes.

    • Provide internal technical support and contribute to broader IT initiatives within the Office of Information Services.

Preferences will be given to candidates who have:

+ Experience providing IT support in a customer-focused environment.

+ Familiarity with elections-related systems or public sector IT environments.

+ Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.

+ Experience training non-technical users on systems and software.

+ Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and professionalism in past roles.

    Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma or general equivalencyANDdemonstrated experience in end user IT support.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Please note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions, and successful candidates will be required to complete an I-9 form upon hire.
