Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The role involves creating and commissioning industrial control systems, troubleshooting PLCs, and mentoring technicians and engineers. You will conduct electrical studies to upgrade and improve the current electrical controls of our equipment, document electrical systems for OEM equipment, and create ladder logic schematics for undocumented equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for ordering necessary electrical components to aid the engineering and maintenance departments in maintaining equipment uptime.
Responsibilities
+ Create and commission industrial controls systems.
+ Troubleshoot PLCs and mentor technicians and engineers.
+ Conduct electrical studies to upgrade and improve current electrical controls.
+ Document current electrical systems for OEM equipment.
+ Create ladder logic schematics for equipment lacking electrical documentation.
+ Order required electrical components to assist engineering and maintenance departments.
+ Analyze plant processes and suggest improvements based on electrical knowledge.
+ Adhere to quality and safety standards.
+ Specify electrical devices including sensors, VFDs, and PLC components.
+ Manage contractor interactions including design, costing, quoting, and executing electrical systems and automation upgrades.
+ Coordinate, support, and maintain various electrical system projects, including installation.
+ Provide engineering support for projects designed and built both internally and externally.
+ Read and interpret electrical schematics.
Essential Skills
+ PLC programming and troubleshooting.
+ Electrical troubleshooting and reading engineering drawings/schematics.
+ High voltage experience (480V+).
+ Automation and controls engineering.
+ HMI programming.
+ Electrical engineering and RSLogix software proficiency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 5+ years of experience in Controls Engineering/PLC/HMI/High Voltage systems.
+ Experience with manufacturing integration and commissioning.
+ Ability to supervise technicians.
+ Focus and concentration to understand complex electrical systems.
+ Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances.
+ Time-management skills for meeting deadlines.
+ Strong command of logic controls, electrical software, and electric theory.
+ Previous electrical/programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Facility Electrical Power distribution planning (12470Vac – 120Vac).
+ Project PLC programming and project management experience.
+ Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Maintenance Management experience.
+ Experience with Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley PLC & RSLogix programming software.
+ Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E and NFPA 79 codes.
Work Environment
The role is based in a metal processing plant focusing on the creation of super alloys. You will work directly under the engineering manager. The environment is dynamic as the facility is implementing new product lines and processes, offering growth opportunities and the chance to be part of an exciting phase in the company's development.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
