This position serves as an Engineer in the Engineering Division of the Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority (CPRA). The incumbent will provide engineering and technical support for coastal restoration and flood protection projects in Louisiana, including in-house design work and development of construction documents. This position also assists with bidding, construction administration, and environmental permitting throughout project implementation.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE:
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.
NOTE:
Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Performs advanced civil engineering work in implementing an important segment, engineering and design, of the CPRA’s overall coastal restoration and flood protection program
+ Performs analysis and design work for a variety of engineering structures and systems for coastal restoration and flood protection projects as assigned
+ Participates in feasibility studies pertaining to coastal protection and restoration projects
+ Prepares preliminary and final design documents, and bid documents (design reports, cost estimates, technical specifications, construction plans and bid and permitting documents)
+ Coordinates, reviews and approves construction plans and specifications in conjunction with the technical staffs and engineering consultants involved in any specific project
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, Engineer Intern 2, Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5 depending on level of experience.
Compensation: The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256 annually.
There are special bi-weekly entrance rates established for this position:
Engineer Intern 1 $2,115.20
Engineer Intern 2 $2,263.20
Engineer 3 $2,671.20
Engineer 4 $2,952.00
Engineer 5 $3,158.40
