GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Suburban Driver
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug & alcohol testing
+ Ability to maintain a Chauffeur license
+ Knowledge of rural roads and city streets within the district is preferred
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
+ Ability to apply public relations skills effectively and utilize oral and written channels of communication.
+ Provides an acceptable criminal records check
+ Provide an acceptable driver’s license record check
Reports To: Director of Operations
Consults With: Transportation Staff
Position Goal:
+ To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum program.
Performance Responsibilities:
+ Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.
+ Obeys all traffic laws.
+ Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school suburbans.
+ Maintains discipline when students are on suburban.
+ Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
+ Keeps assigned suburban clean.
+ Keeps to assigned schedule.
+ Checks suburban before each operation for mechanical defects.
+ Fuels vehicle as required to operate the suburban safely.
+ Keeps interior and windows of vehicle clean.
+ Contacts parents as required for discipline of passenger on suburban.
+ Attends meetings as required for discipline of passenger on suburban.
+ Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
+ Discharges students only at authorized stops.
+ Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
+ Transports only authorized students.
+ Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
+ Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the suburban.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:Days students are in school and as needed for summer school. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
