Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineer within our Finance Technology team. This team ensures the reliability, scalability, and performance of financial systems and services at Choice by applying software engineering principles to infrastructure and operations. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for maintaining system reliability and performance across our cloud platforms, while working closely with software engineering and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless operations and rapid incident resolution.

Your Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Reliability Engineering
+ Design, implement, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions on AWS.
+ Develop and maintain Lambda functions, manage S3 data storage, and ensure seamless cloud service integration.
+ Support high availability and disaster recovery initiatives across production environments.
Automation & DevOps
+ Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, and GitLab CI.
+ Automate deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure provisioning using Python and Java.
+ Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation for consistency and repeatability.
Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response
+ Develop and maintain dashboards and alerts using Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, and Prometheus.
+ Proactively detect, respond to, and resolve infrastructure and application-level issues.
+ Participate in on-call rotations and manage incident resolution, including post-mortem documentation.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
+ Partner with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to promote a culture of shared responsibility for system reliability.
+ Drive root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurring issues.
+ Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior SREs and cross-functional peers.
Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
+ 5+ years of hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related technical role.
+ Strong proficiency in Python and Java for automation and scripting.
+ In-depth experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, and others.
+ Expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Bitbucket Pipelines.
+ Proven experience building monitoring dashboards and custom metrics for proactive observability.
+ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
+ Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
+ A team player mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
+ Demonstrated key competencies: Ensures Accountability, Drives Results, and Cultivates Innovation
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience or familiarity with Oracle Fusion financial modules such as Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), or other ERP systems.
+ Hands-on experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure automation.
+ Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional teams.
+ AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
+ Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies.
Your Team
This is an individual contributor role reporting to a Senior Manager. You will work alongside 4–6 peer teammates and regularly collaborate with cross-functional departments.
Your Work Location
As our Software Engineer 3, you will be based at our state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Located less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we are just one block from the North Bethesda Metro station (Red Line and MARC Brunswick Line) with easy access to I-270 and plenty of free parking.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $153,000 annually.
The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
