Software Engineer III – Digital Experience API Team

The Digital Experience API Team builds and maintains the core APIs that power ChoiceHotels.com and our mobile applications. Your Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs supporting ChoiceHotels.com and mobile platforms.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality solutions.
+ Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning.
+ Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
+ Ensure security, performance, and scalability of all solutions.
+ Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to business challenges.
+ Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and growth.
+ Support deployment and monitoring of services in a cloud-native environment.
Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, focusing on backend or API development.
+ Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, REST API, gRPC, and GraphQL.
+ Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
+ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
+ Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and data structures.

Your TeamThis role is an individual contributor reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Experience Engineering. You will work alongside talented engineers and collaborate regularly with product managers, designers, and QA professionals.
Your Work LocationBased in Scottsdale, AZ, at our state-of-the-art technology hub. Currently, the role offers a hybrid work model: up to 4 days/week in-office, with flexibility for remote work on remaining days. Open communication with leadership for your needs is encouraged.

Minneapolis, MN — Select roles are based in our Minneapolis office on Highway 394, near the intersection with Highway 100, only five minutes from downtown.
Field/Remote — Select roles designated as field/remote will require associates to work from a home office, connecting virtually with Choice team members and leadership on Zoom, with possible required travel depending on the role.
