Senior Software Engineer
The Senior Software Engineer serves as technical expert and team leader who rapidly identifies and solves complex problems and anticipates issues that might arise from code decisions.
Helps shape development and growth of other engineers. Makes business decisions around feature readiness, plans technical implementations, and holds the team to quality standards.
Set examples for peers through their ability to meet production goals as well as their business knowledge, clear communication, fairness, and empathy. Owns major projects within the
team and is sought after for technical advice in their area of expertise.
Specific duties include:
Drives larger projects or efforts within projects, especially those which may have a large impact on the codebase, or erase significant tech debt; Leads technical discussions and
grooming/planning efforts with the team and interacts with other teams on coordinated efforts; Spends significant time making other developers better through code reviews, clear
documentation, team standards, and a commitment to code quality; Collaborates with team coach, product manager, and interaction designer on prioritization and feature scope, surfacing
issues which may affect deployment or roll-out; Serves as a team representative in architectural review board meetings, slack channels, cross-functional team meetings, etc. to help other
developers and stakeholders work with their team; Champions junior members of the team and helps delegate work to give others the opportunity to grow; Keeps a keen eye on the
business impacts of team feature work, planning for scalability and performance and cost implications, and reacting to customer input. Incumbent may telecommute from anywhere within the United States.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field (foreign equivalent accepted). Incumbent must possess demonstrated experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or similar role utilizing the following:
JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, RequireJS, React or AngularJS; Agile Development, SCRUM, or Extreme Programming methodologies; Contributing to release and sprint planning and backlog management; Unit testing, fault tolerance, data structures, complexity analysis, object-oriented principles, and design patterns; Modern web app development (including Sencha, REST, Continuous Integration, and other cloud-based architectures); Modern web technologies (including HTML, CSS3, JavaScript); and Object-oriented languages (including Delphi, Java, C++, C#, etc.) and SQL.
Full-time; position is located at 255 State St. Flr. 8, Boston, MA 02109. Salary is $132,420 per year.
