    The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to preventing and addressing homelessness. In partnership with other City agencies and nonprofit organizations, DHS works to prevent homelessness before it begins, reduce street homelessness, provide temporary shelter, and connect individuals and families to stable housing all with a focus on accountability, empathy, and equity.

     

    DHS is committed to continuous improvement and employs innovative strategies to deliver high-quality services that support a swift transition from shelter to self-sufficiency. The agency manages hundreds of facilities and operates with a large team as well as a several billion-dollar budget to meet the diverse needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.

     

    The Housing Emergency Referral Operations (HERO) unit is the sole 24/7 DHS organizational unit that identifies and secures shelter for families and single adults who apply for emergency housing assistance. HERO is composed of nine sub-sections: Placements, Transfers and Transportation, Vacancy Control for Families with Children and Single Adults, Data & Systems, Strategic Initiatives, CARE Day Certification, Portfolio Management, Quality Assurance and Serious Incidents Unit.

    The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is recruiting for one (1) Principal Administrative Associate III to function as the Executive Program Support Specialist, who will:

    - Practice professional discretion.

     

    - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

     

    - Assist the Senior Advisor with tasks related to implementation and execution of operational needs are met.

     

    - Ensure adequate coverage of the unit in the absence of the Senior Advisor.

     

    - Prepare and distribute PowerPoint presentations as needed.

     

    - Liaise in updating the DHS intranet and newsletters.

     

    - Track and coordinate assignments, trainings and all other requirements to ensure that the sub-units targets/goals/deadlines are met.

     

    - Create and generate reports.

     

    - Troubleshoot problems within the unit.

     

    - Collaborate with management for unit staff's time & leave and tasks & standards.

     

    - Take notes and distribute after meetings for accountability purposes.

     

    Work Location: 33 Beaver Street New York, NY 10004

     

    Hours/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

    PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124

    Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or

    2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or

    3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;

    4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.

    Salary Min: $ 66,062.00
