    The A+ Program at CiTi BOCES provides a highly structured, supportive educational environment for students in grades K–12 who receive special education services. Our students are neurodivergent learners, including those with Autism, social-emotional needs, sensory processing differences, academic skill gaps, and expressive/receptive communication delays.

    Position Overview:

    CiTi BOCES is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and visionary leader to serve as Principal of the A+ Program, overseeing middle and high school classrooms. The Principal is responsible for ensuring a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment that meets the diverse needs of our students. The ideal candidate will lead with empathy, foster staff collaboration, and implement best practices in special education to promote student growth and success.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Provide instructional leadership to ensure high-quality teaching and learning aligned with IEP goals, state standards, and student outcomes.

    + Supervise, evaluate, and support special education teachers, teaching assistants, related service providers, and support staff.

    + Foster a safe, predictable, and supportive school climate grounded in positive behavioral supports and trauma-responsive practices.

    + Oversee development and implementation of individualized student programs, including behavioral supports, sensory integration, communication strategies, and differentiated instruction.

    + Collaborate with families, sending school districts, related service providers, and outside agencies to support student success.

    + Monitor student progress toward Regents diplomas or Skills and Achievement Credentials, ensuring appropriate instructional pathways and supports.

    + Lead and support professional development focused on evidence-based practices in special education, Autism supports, neurodivergent learning, and behavior management.

    + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IDEA, NYSED regulations, and CiTi BOCES policies.

    + Support transition planning for students moving between grade levels or post-secondary pathways.

    + Foster a culture of equity, inclusion, and respect for all students and staff.

    Job Qualifications

    + New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), or equivalent.

    + Proven experience working with students with Autism, neurodivergent learners, or students with significant social-emotional and academic needs.

    + Demonstrated leadership in special education settings for 3-5 years.

    + Strong background in holistic restorative practices, positive behavioral interventions, and sensory regulation strategies.

    + Exceptional communication skills and ability to foster collaborative relationships with staff, families, and district partners.

    + Experience with instructional coaching, staff development, and team-building in diverse educational settings.
