    About the role:

    General Accountability:

    This position is for an entry level field technician working for ALS Environmental out of the Toms River, NJ laboratory. The primary geographic location of the position will be to perform collections and pickups in the central and northern portions of New Jersey for analysis at the Toms River laboratory. We are looking for a full time, permanent addition, who works well in a team setting and an ever-changing environment.

    Responsibilities

    About you:

    + Manages sampling events in order to obtain drinking water samples to collect for homeowners, public water systems, or other entities who need analysis performed by the laboratory. Store all samples in a cooler with ice and deliver to ALS Sample Receiving.

    + This position requires driving between locations to collect samples in a company vehicle, so a clean driving record and drug test is required.

    + This work is normally performed with modified Level D safety requirements (street clothes plus safety glasses, nitrile gloves and steel toed boots). The scope of work is mandated primarily by the agencies which are part of the NJDEP.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    + High School diploma or laboratory experience preferred.

    + Working knowledge of good laboratory practice.

    + Comfortable in high paced production environment.

    Physical Demands:

    + The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working.

    + Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers.

    + Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.

    + Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment.

    + Must be able to drive and get in and out of vehicle.

    + Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate vehicle, computer and other equipment.

    + Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate vehicle, office equipment.
