    Job Title: Production Associate

    Job Description

    The Production Associate plays a crucial role in operating automated CNC vertical and horizontal machines, ensuring precision and efficiency in manufacturing processes. This position involves accurately locating and identifying machine axes, performing routine checks, and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to maintain product standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist in setting up and operating automated CNC vertical and horizontal machines.

    + Accurately locate and identify the X, Y, Z axis on machines.

    + Perform daily point checks on assigned machines and report concerns to the supervisor.

    + Meet departmental and company goals, such as efficiencies, scrap control, and setup time reductions.

    + Interpret product blueprints, drawings, sketches, setup sheets, and other work instructions.

    + Use scales, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.

    + Remove and replace dull cutting tools following safety protocols.

    + Mount, install, align, and secure tools and workpieces using precision instruments.

    + Listen to machines for irregular sounds and adjust as necessary.

    + Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutting tools when programming is faulty.

    + Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or change tooling as required.

    + Lift workpieces to machines manually or using hoists or cranes.

    + Enter control instructions into machine control units to start operations.

    + Monitor and adjust coolant systems as needed.

    + Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules using network links.

    + Assist in setups for future jobs and perform inspections or part checks.

    + Clean work area and perform other duties while machines are operating.

    + Assist in training new operators and deburr machined parts as required.

    + Follow all safety policies and procedures and utilize required personal protective equipment.

    + Communicate effectively in English and follow verbal and written instructions.

    + Perform other tasks and assignments as required.

    + Maintain regular attendance on-site.

    Essential Skills

    + Level I: Minimum of six months experience in a manufacturing role utilizing CNC machines or similar equipment.

    + Level II: Minimum of two years experience in a manufacturing role utilizing CNC machines or similar equipment.

    + Level III: Minimum of three years experience in a manufacturing role utilizing complex multi-axis machining centers.

    + Experience reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints, sketches, and technical instructions.

    + Demonstrated basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction conversions).

    + Experience using mics, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Relevant apprenticeship or vocational training in a machine shop, manufacturing technology, or similar program.

    + Completion of assigned internal training for Level I, II, or III Operators, and periodic retraining or recertification.

    + Experience using cranes, forklifts, and similar heavy and oversized material handling equipment.

    + Consistent employment history without unexplained gaps or frequent job changes.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment features excessive noise, requiring hearing protection, and regular exposure to dust, smoke, mist, fumes, and vapors. Employees may encounter extreme temperatures occasionally. The facility contains hazardous equipment such as forklifts, hand tools, cranes, and other lifting devices. CNC operators are scheduled on day and night shifts, with training conducted on day shifts for the first month.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, Georgia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $21.00/hr.
