•** **Scope of the Role

As an **Aquarist** , you’ll be part of the incredible Displays team that helps care for a wide range of freshwater and marine animals — from elasmobranchs (sharks & rays!) to reptiles, invertebrates, and vibrant tropical fish 🦈🐟🦎.

You’ll help keep exhibits running smoothly, maintain life support systems, and even dive into our 200,000-gallon tropical ocean tank 🌊.

•️** **Your Daily Splash

+ 🐠 Provide top-notch daily care to aquatic and reptile species — including feeding, cleaning, and habitat enrichment

+ 📝 Maintain accurate records of animal care, water chemistry, and exhibit maintenance

+ 💧 Perform water quality tests and assist with disease diagnosis, quarantine, and treatment

+ 🤿 Dive into large-scale habitats to perform exhibit cleaning and maintenance

+ 🎤 Present fun, educational, and interactive guest programs (sometimes in scuba gear!)

+ 🚚 Assist with animal transports and ongoing display development

+ 🧰 Maintain dive gear and ensure safety procedures are always followed

+ 🔧 Support life support system maintenance and husbandry routines

+ ✨ Help ensure every guest visit is magical and every animal gets world-class care

•** **Health & Safety First

Your safety (and that of our animals and guests) is our top priority 🛡️. Follow best practices and report incidents promptly to help keep everyone safe and sound.

•** **Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in **Biology** , **Marine Biology** , **Zoology** , **Psychology** , or related field

+ OR graduation from an accredited **aquarium science/zoological program**

+ SCUBA certification and experience diving in large tanks is a **huge plus** 🤿

•** **Other Requirements

+ Must be flexible — available for **weekends, holidays, and occasional travel** ✈️

+ Must meet **AZA** , **USDA** , and **Merlin Health & Safety** standards

+ Able to lift up to **74 lbs** and perform physical tasks in varied environments 🏋️‍♂️
