    Description

    JOB DESCRIPTION: The Violence Prevention Advocate (VPA) will work closely with youth, families, and schools to implement prevention and intervention services in the community. The VPA is responsible for providing crisis intervention, conflict resolution education, and mentorship, aiming to reduce violence and promote safe environments. This role involves collaboration with schools, local agencies, law enforcement and community members to support at-risk youth and prevent violent incidents.

    MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Community Outreach & Education:Conduct violence prevention workshops on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and peer mediation.

    • School Collaboration:Partner with schools to identify at-risk students and provide targeted violence prevention lessons.

    • Peer to Peer:Facilitate weekly violence prevention lessons in a group setting, focusing on empowering youth with conflict resolution skills.

    • Collaboration with Local Agencies:Work with community organizations and local law enforcement to enhance violence prevention efforts.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Education: High School Diploma or GED required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

     

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year working in violence prevention, crisis intervention, or related human services fields.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Proficiency in crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.

    • Experience working with youth and at-risk populations.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with schools, local agencies, and law enforcement.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Capable of maintaining a flexible schedule to respond to crisis situations.

    • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
