Job Summary
Associate Director reports to the Director of Stadium & Arena Event Services. The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership, direction, management and vision for ticketing operations for non-athletics events held at Rice-Eccles Stadium and the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Associate Director of Ticketing is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of Stadium & Arena ticket operations, including the day-to-day ticket strategy, revenue management and operations management for all ticketed special events. In addition, the Associate Director will also coordinate ticket operations and best practices with all auxiliary offices and other campus departments.
Responsibilities
1.
Manage all aspects of non-athletic event ticketing operations.
a. Works in tandem with the Director in booking events.
b. Operates and manages all aspects of Stadium & Arena Services’ ticket operations for approximately 15 events at Rice-Eccles Stadium and the Jon M Huntsman Center.
c. Work with promoters on scaling and overall pricing models, event build, inventory management, and daily reporting.
d. Oversees internal and campus ticket sales, fulfillment and distribution.
e. Oversees internal controls and procedures, including auditing procedures and reports, allocation and distribution of tickets.
f. Administrates efficient, accurate, and timely reporting mechanisms related to sales activity and analysis for stadium and Auxiliary administrators as well as outside event Promoters.
g. Works with Event Promoters and Stadium & Arena Finance department on event settlements and ticket-related revenue receivables.
h. Works with all Stadium & Arena departments to maintain and develop a high level of customer service for all customers.
i. Oversee event set up, staffing and reporting for all ticketed events.
j. Develop a healthy relationship with primary clients.
k. Effective resolution of all customer service issues at all points of sale locations and at non-athletic events.
l. Responsible for hiring and training event day ticketing staff and student workers.
m. Develop a communication plan for distributing information and engaging ticket holders.
n. Establishing effective vendor relationships and securing favorable economic terms with all relevant third parties, e.g., ticket agencies.

Pursue opportunities to implement campus wide ticketing operational efficiencies.
a. Leads Stadium & Arena Events Services and Auxiliary Services efforts to formalize a more unified campus ticketing plan.
b. Focuses on the future of ticket operations with the goal to be on the forefront of the ticketing on campus and in the events industry.
c. Liaison with other campus ticketing departments.
d. Explore opportunities to move towards a more centralized and efficient ticketing model on campus.
3.
Participate in the development and interpretation of department policies to ensure compliance with the University’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Oversee Ticketing staff management including recruitment, hiring and training,
performance evaluations and retention of staff.
5.
Serve as part of the SACES management team.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Problem Solving:
The problems encountered by this position will be as varied as the events and services provided. The challenge and scope of safely hosting 45-50,000 guests in Rice-Eccles Stadium and 15,000 in Jon M. Huntsman Center venues is top priority. The position many times will need to act as a mediator or negotiator to see that the event needs are met and that University policies and procedures are followed. The position many times will need to “do more with less” and creatively find ways to accomplish tasks within a budget and with limited resources. In all cases decisions should be based on customer needs, balancing with University policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master’s degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
