Position: Anticipated Speech TeacherLocation: District Wide Required Certification: Speech and Language DisabilitiesStart Date: August 28, 2025 Position Overview:The Speech Teacher, also known as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing treatment for students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. The role requires collaboration with teachers, parents, and school administrators to support students’ communication abilities and ensure their success in the classroom. The Speech Teacher will work with students across various age groups, from preschool to high school, in both general and special education settings. Responsibilities:Assessment and Diagnosis:
+ Conducts comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students referred by teachers, parents, or other professionals.
+ Identifies students with communication disorders that affect their educational performance.
+ Develops individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and student needs.
Intervention and Therapy:
+ Provides individual or group therapy sessions for students with speech and language disorders.
+ Utilizes evidence-based practices and interventions to improve communication skills.
+ Monitors and adjust treatment plans as necessary to meet students' evolving needs.
+ Provides strategies and resources for teachers and parents to support communication development outside of therapy sessions.
Collaboration and Communication:
+ Collaborates with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to ensure alignment between speech therapy goals and academic instruction.
+ Maintains regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
+ Participates in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute to the development of IEP goals related to speech and language.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
+ Maintains accurate records of student evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans.
+ Prepares and submit required reports and documentation to meet district, state, and federal regulations.
Professional Development:
+ Participates in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with trends, methodologies, and advancements. This includes attending workshops, seminars and professional meetings such as faculty and department meetings.
+ Collaborates with fellow nurses and staff to share best practices and enhance the overall experience for students.
Other:
+ Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:
+ NYS Teaching Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities
+ Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children.
